| Foundation's Aims: | "The Generali Fund, in Memory of the Generali Insured in East and Central Europe who Perished in the Holocaust" was established as a public trust, by Assicurzioni Generali SpA, under the terms of the agreement between Generali, representatives of the Knesset's Finance Committee and the Knesset's Committee for the Return of the Property of Jewish Victims of the Holocaust, MK's Ravitz, Hirshzon and Kleiner. The Fund totals US$12 million, which will be transferred to the Fund in 12 equal annual instalments. As set forth in the Trust Deed and the guidelines given to the members of the Fund's public committee and trustees in their letters of appointment, the Funds money will be distributed, in accordance with the criteria to be established by the Trustees, for the following purposes: a. Ex-gratia payments to beneficiaries, or the heirs of beneficiaries who were killed in the Holocaust, based on policies issued by branches of Generali in Central and Eastern Europe prior to the Second World War, and which have not been paid out. b. Assistance to the victims of the Holocaust and their families, in the form of medical aid, psychological aid, or other types of assistance. c. Support for organizations and public bodies dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. d. Other suitable purposes. Since the Fund was established in 1997, it has received thousands of applications from policy-holders or their relatives, in respect of policies issued by the Generali company prior to and during the Holocaust. During 1998 an intensive program of payments was commenced, putting emphasis on dealing speedily with applications, without, however, detracting from the thorough checking of documents and verification of the rights of heirs, where necessary. The Fund's executive sees these payments as a moral obligation toward the survivors of the Holocaust. Payments are made on an ongoing basis. In dealing with applications addressed to the Fund, the Trustees have given first priority to applications submitted by those who see themselves entitled to the benefits of life insurance policies (as stated in a above). This is to ensure that priority is given to paying out those policies issued by the Assicuranzi Generali company prior to the Holocaust and which have not been paid out till now. The Generali Fund will accept applications from all over the world, regarding Generali life insurance policies. Applicants should submit the appropriate information necessary for claiming benefits under the policies. This service is provided at no charge. |

| Comments: | Applications to the Fund in regard to the redemption of life insurance policies are handled as follows: Applicants should submit personal details and indicate the reason for their application. The Fund, for its part, will send all the relevant forms. a. Applicants who have documented information, even partial, regarding a life policy or policies, should provide all the information that they know to the Fund. If the policy can be identified, its value will be assessed, in line with the criteria established by the Trustees of the Fund, and the proceeds will be paid to the beneficiary's legal heirs. b. Applicants who lack exact information regarding the policy or policies are asked to furnish the following information, and the Fund will conduct a search of the databases held by the Assicurzioni Generali company in Italy: given name and family name (in English characters, as written in the original policy; where the exact spelling is not known, please provide a number of possible alternatives); exact date of birth of the policyholder; city and country where the policyholder lived; occupation; any other relevant information that will help the Fund to locate details of the policy.
Decisions on grants: a. Life insurance policies: Decisions regarding payments are examined and approved at three levels: First, the application is examined by the Fund's Director-General. After it is approved by him, it is brought for the approval of a subcommittee of the Board of Trustees, made up of the Chairman of the fund, Justice (Ret.) Dov Levin and Mr. Gad Komeran, an expert in the field of insurance, who personally examine each application in detail. Applications that are approved by the subcommittee are brought to the full Board of Trustees for final approval, after which the payments are made. b. Humanitarian assistance: Decisions regarding payments are examined and approved at three levels: First, the application is examined by the Fund's Director-General. After it is approved by him, it is brought for the approval of a subcommittee of the Board of Trustees, made up of Adv. Ory Slonim and Mr. Yechiel Granatsetin, who personally examine each application in detail. Applications that are approved by the subcommittee are brought to the full Board of Trustees for final approval, after which the relevant payments are made.
