Description:Cancer patients: with palliative care, we improve quality of life of the patients and families through relief of pain and control of symptoms, alleviates the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual discomforts remaining sensitive to personal, cultural, and religious values, beliefs, and practices. Diabetic patients: health education on disease and management, self control and complications, with intervention of dietitian, physiotherapy and social worker we plan to improve public awareness, reduce incidence, early detection and intervention, prevent or delaying complications, improving quality and quantity of life in this population.
Programs:Educational lectures to school children and lay public on healthy life style includes healthy nutrition, physical activities and obesity reduction. Lectures to diabetes and cancer patients and individual meetings. Promotional activities on screening tests and early detection. Printing leaflets and posters on health promotion. Activities in collaboration with Heath Funds, Social Department at Municipalities, schools, local and national health NGO’s.
Accomplishments:
  • Improved public awareness to prevention and early detection of diabetes and cancer in Arab sector
  • Printing a book about Diabetes for lay public and Palliative care for health care
  • Printing a book about Medical Ethics and the Muslim patient in Hebrew distributed for free to hospitals
Future Objectives:
  • Establishment of a Home Hospice i Lower Galilee
  • More health promotion on cancer and diabetes
  • Strengthen volunteering
Effectiveness:Diabetes: early detection and improvement of blood glucose and HbA1c levels. Cancer: diagnosis of cancer at early stage, preventing suffer and death at home.
Present Needs:Hirring a physician, nurse and social worker to the Home Hospice

Comments:Al-Taj Organization is the first and the only Amuta at the Arab sector dealing with diabetes and cancer. We had published the first comprehensive Arabic book ''Diabetes Millitus - the Era Plague'', and published the first book in the Arab world ''Palliative Care Manual'' distributed for free to health professionals. We have been presenting the Islamic Medical Ethics on hospitals and conferences in Israel and abroad to improve spiritual care to the Muslim patients. We had published the book ''Medical Ethics and the Muslim Patient'', distributed for free to all hospitals in Israel.

Kassim Baddarni:
Registered Nurse and Pharmaceutical Marketing expert. Nursing work at hospitals and community settings in Israel and Australia. Specialty in cancer and diabetes management Volunteering with local, regional and national organizations, health and welfare. Believe on human right to live with dignity and die without unnecessary suffer or pain.
